Dear PS 35 Families,
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year. We are very excited about the teaching and learning our school will be offering this year. Students will have many opportunities to learn, share, and enjoy being a student. At PS 35, we pride ourselves on educating the whole child. Not only do we have a rigorous curriculum in all content areas, we also have a robust arts program. Starting in the Spring, we will offer wonderful enrichment opportunities for all students. This year we will continue the very smart work of supporting all students with intentional conversations about their social emotional well-being. Staff members will use our new Social Emotional program Sandford Harmony to speak with students daily about their feelings and how to manage those feelings. We will also continue our work on core values of kindness, respect, responsibility, intellectualism, perseverance, and inclusivity through our PBIS language.
Parent involvement and engagement are very important to us. We are continuing to be very intentional about ensuring all parents/guardians know your voices are valued and very necessary. We want families to ask questions, visit classrooms on Parent Engagement Tuesdays, attend school functions, visit our monthly SLT meetings, and attend monthly PTA meetings. You are key stakeholders and we want to hear from you.
PS 35’s theme for this year is: Finding ‘Something Beautiful’ in every staff member, in every student, in every family … everyday. We celebrate the wonderful diversity in our school, as it teaches students how to be productive citizens of the world.
Please visit our website regularly as this is one of our communication tools we use to update families about school events. In addition to updates, our website also has The P.S. 35 Parent Handbook which details our school’s policies, procedures, and protocols. Also, please make sure we have your correct phone number on file in the event we need to contact you. Should you have any questions, comments, concerns, and or compliments please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher, our Parent Coordinator Ms. Banks or a member of the administrative team.
Ms. Mia Peebles-Davis, Acting Principal
